Treatment of human papillomavirus - effective ways

Human papillomavirus

The human papillomavirus, the treatment of which is discussed in this publication, is a very common disease. There are more carriers of this virus than people who have not been infected with HPV. Several methods of treatment of this disease have been developed to date. They are conventionally divided into two groups: conservative and destructive methods of treatment.

Unfortunately, it is still impossible to completely eradicate human papillomavirus. Modern medicine tools and methods can only stop the development of the virus, remove the emerging papillomas and prevent the aggravation of the disease, which will lead to the formation of new papillomas.

The human papillomavirus that has settled in the body stays in it for life. When the immune system is weakened, it is activated, resulting in the formation of neoplasms on the skin.

Treatment of human papillomavirus by conservative methods

Conservative treatment of HPV includes a set of measures aimed at strengthening the body's immune system and suppressing the development of the virus. In some cases, this is sufficient and the use of surgical methods is not necessary.

ᲛImportant:A positive result can be achieved only if the treatment is prescribed by a specialist. Self-medication is impossible in this case. The physician’s task is to conduct a medical examination of the patient with a further appointment for an individual course of therapy.

Usually, interferon-based drugs are prescribed to treat human papillomavirus. This substance, which inhibits the development of viruses, is produced in sufficient quantities by a healthy body. But with the weakening of immunity it is necessary to increase the concentration of this substance in the blood. The drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, begins to affect the body.

Also, as part of the treatment of papillomas with conservative methods, in some cases it is indicated to take specific antiviral drugs.

In some cases, the use of special creams, gels and sprays that destroy the virus in local tissues has been shown. Under certain conditions, their use causes necrosis of the tissues affected by the virus, which makes it possible to refuse the use of destructive methods of treatment.

Treatment of human papillomavirus by destructive methods

Destructive treatment aims to directly destroy the tissues affected by the virus. These methods can be divided into two groups: chemical, physical.

Chemical methods of treating papillomas include the removal of virus-affected tissues using chemicals. Several groups of drugs have been developed to remove papillomas in different areas.

There are several physical methods of removing papillomas. The most common methods are electrocoagulation, cryodestruction, radiosurgery, laser therapy.

Electrocoagulation involves the removal of papillomas using high-frequency electric current. This method has been used for a long time and has been proven to be very effective. But it also has its downsides. First of all, these are painful sensations after surgery that last a long time.

Cryodestruction, also a widely used method of treating papillomas, causes the patient less discomfort. The method is based on freezing the affected tissues using liquid nitrogen. Ulcers caused by cryodestruction heal in one to two weeks. At the same time, no traces remain on the skin.

This method is used exclusively to remove skin papillomas. If it is necessary to remove papillomas from the cervix, this method is not used, in this case due to its ineffectiveness.

The most optimal method of treating human papilloma in terms of efficacy, painlessness and duration of the postoperative period is laser removal of papillomas. The method is based on the use of a surgical laser.

The peculiarity of the method is that as soon as the affected tissues are removed, the laser closes the blood vessels, which prevents the possibility of bleeding. This method does not cause any complications or scarring. The duration of the recovery period is one month.

There is another modern method of removing papillomas - radiosurgery. This method is based on the use of special equipment that cuts damaged tissue under the influence of strong high-frequency radio waves.

Despite the successful use of modern methods of medicine described above, surgical removal of papillomas is still widely popular. This is probably the most painful method that involves a long postoperative period. But in some cases the use of this particular method has been shown. For example, surgical removal of cervical papillomas is used in oncology.

Recovery period

Regardless of which method was used to remove the papillomas, a number of measures must be followed after surgery. Among them are shown an abundant drink, adhering to a saving regime.

Also, comprehensive measures are needed to reduce the concentration of papilloma virus in the body. Usually, medications that boost the immune system are prescribed for this purpose.

Remember that removing papillomas on the skin or mucous membranes does not rule out the presence of this virus in the body. To prevent the re-formation of papillomas it is necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle, regular visits to the doctor.
